Strolling in Winter near Montreal

We were out a few days ago counting winter birds and thought a couple of minutes strolling through the snowy forest with us might be calming for your soul. Immediately by the start off this short walk there were four different species of Woodpecker in the trees above our heads – Pileated, Downy, Hairy and the elusive Red-bellied Woodpeckers. We suspect the draw was the number of moribund ash trees replete with insects that are thereabouts. I did not have the right camera to film the birds so you will have to take my word for it.

Only bother turning the sound on for this video if you want the authentic sound of scrunching boots.
