“Mine, All mine!”
There are two Viburnum bushes near the house, one a native species and one a horticultural cultivar. Usually the berries stay on the bushes through most of the winter as although to us they look bright and juicy it is evident that most wildlife only resort to them once all the alternatives have gone. This year, however, the Thrushes (for the most part) stripped the native of its berries almost before they had ripened while the last week or two have seen the other bush being systematically stripped by the squirrels. This fellow is here taking and enjoying the very last bunch of berries … that’s it until next summer.
This is not the first picture posted here of this activity, but it’s worthy of record.
