Teenager?  Yes, he/she has most of the adult feathers but the neck and chest are still somewhat “fluffy”. Also, at this time of year they do little other than shout at each other and at the world in general.  The constant call of the Blue Jay is one of the things that mark the end of summer for us and the approach of a cooler, calmer autumn.
