Today we betook ourselves to the Morgan Arboretum to walk the snowshoe (raquettes) trail for the first time this winter. Not too cold, lovely snow and not too many birds either to be honest as went late morning. A long view of a Pileated Woodpecker hacking at a tall tree was perhaps the bird of the day.

This trail is only a couple of years old but already one of the nicest in the arbo … it goes through areas not accessible in the summer and well away from the ski trails and the dog-walking trails and you do feel as though you’ve had a good work-out once you’ve completed it.

The sugar shack (Sucrerie) … only a few weeks and this will be hard at work boiling down the maple sap for syrup
