About 25 minutes walk away – well within an easy Bigby stroll – are the Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue rapids at the western tip of Montreal island.  This water almost always stays opn in winter and although not extensive does attract some early waterfowl arrivals.  We added the first Common Loons a short while back and yesterday four Common Goldeneye and a Raven.  On the way back that damned Pileated Woodpecker called but managed, once again, to hide from view.  I’ll get it yet though.
