Really huge flocks of Starlings, red-woinged Blackbirds and Common Grackle all around this weekend making the devil of a row and scarfing down seed at the feeders as if there’s no tomorrow.

We have had a lot of Goldfinch at the feeders too but clearly they are separate groups moving through – it was striking that while yesterday’s were still only just starting to get the odd yellow feather, today they were well on the way to full yellowness and that doesn’t happen overnight.

Sandhill Cranes (six) are repoerted down at Dundee again – it looks like the Easter weekend is going to be nice so we’ll probaaly take a trip down there to enjoy them before the grasses and reeds grow too tall.

Things really are moving now
