Up this morning to make the tea and found myself looking out on a garden illuminated by mist beams. They only lasted about ten minutes and kept shifting but had to be captured … stunning start to a beautiful sunny day.
I thought mistbeams was a neat word and was going to copyright it as I had not found it by googling … but then I did. Seamus Heaney’s translation of beowulf uses it when he writes: “In off the moors, down through the mist beams, god-cursed Grendel came greedily loping.” Well, I am in good company at least.
