Just playing around on a dull day, but it was fun … though certainly not great art.

Yesterday, NY Eve, was thickly fogged all day long as the abnormally warm weather lifted water vapour form the snow which hung around in the absence of wind. Fog is interesting and I spent a bit of time photographing down near the river. Everything was shades of grey and then a good distance from me there was a spark of colour. A young girl was closely examining a fallen tree. She was wearing a bright yellow jacket while her mother (well, accompanying female adult) looked on. I included this photo amongst a small selection posted in Facebook and it was by a long way the one most admired.

A few people commented on how “like a painting” it was so as today is a very quiet day I decided to see what I could achieve. Here is the original and alongside it my simplified interpretation …
