They forecast freezing drizzle for this afternoon so we grabbed what should have been a fast walk around the arboretum this morning in search of what might be seen – inevitably it as not fast at all. Rather looked as if the world and his wife had had the same idea because it was pretty busy but if you know where to go you can usually avoid the worst of the crowds. Our members organisation was running a log fire with hot dogs and chocolate in the Chalet Pruche for skiers etc – very popular and very welcome. This is a new venture and seems to be a winner.
Main reason for going was to ensure that there are photographs today for the year-in-the-forest project on the Arboretum website – oh, and for the exercise too, of course – but I am fairly sure there will be enough pictures of tree, snow, kids and dogs from others submitted today and thus we concentrated on the birds … amongst others, we enjoyed these guys:
