The End of Autumn

We had thought that our last visit to the forest a couple of weeks ago would be the high spot of the tree colour this year but somehow the leaves have hung on and this morning’s exercise found us walking under some more glorious golden trees.

That and we saw the Red-bellied Woodpecker.

It was a beautiful day …

On the downside, the trails were much busier than the usual week-day and we came across a couple of groups of small children with adults who were not observing social distancing, felt that shouting was acceptable (bet they didn’t see much wildlife) and didn’t move to one side when we wanted to pass them. Shouldn’t complain but they really were not trying – quite oblivious.
