Bitterly cold but bright Easter Sunday this year … the last two years, our records tell us that we had Snowdrops out in the garden … fat chance of that any time soon. We had our first House Sparrow of the winter in the garden today which says much about their decline as only a few years ago they were regulars. We also saw down the road this fine Cedar Waxwing in a tree with a friend and accompanied by an early Am Robin, one of whom later came to the garden.

Bigby-walked to the St-Anne rapids to see what might be aorund the open water … a small flock of Common Goldeneye and a pair of COLOs was all but as you can see from the pictures below, any waterbirds in search of open water at this time of year have pretty well got to come here if they are in the vicinity so it’s always worth checking out.
