There has been a Carolina Wren (actually two of them) in the garden in recent weeks and they seem to like the feeders. These rare (around here anyway – we are at the furthest northern extent of their range) birds too often get knocked back in hard winters but gradually their numbers are increasing in the area. This fellow twice went into an old nesting box and we are wondering if it is scoping it out as a bit of winter shelter – that would be good.

These are magical little birds.
