Today was so nice we wandered along the yellow trail (with deviations) in the arboretum and enjoyed the changing colours of the trees.  We were surprised to find that after quite a lengthy period of less than wonderful birding up there today was hopping – lots of White-throated Sparrows of course but also at least five Wrens in different places – including the old faithful log pile by the sugar shack – a couple of groups of Thrushes (Hermit and Swainson’s) and Juncoes aplenty.  A couple of illustrations follow:
