A Carolina Wren
Although we see them every year now, the Carolina Wrens are still uncommon, not to say rare, around here. Last winter we had two (at least?) on our feeders almost daily and in the spring a pair nested in a flower pot on our front porch and fledged a couple of youngsters. The nest, if you missed it, was described and photographed in this post … https://sparroworks.ca/carolina-wren-nest-and-young/
Late this afternoon, accompanied by almost 20 Dark-eyed Juncos, a Carolina wren visited the garden and systematically visited and checked out three of our four main feeders before departing. Hopefully he/she will remember the birdy habitat and varied food on offer when the really cold weather arrives in a few weeks.
