The gardeners await you … but I’m in my sixties, do I have enough time left to reproduce this?
… sad news. Hestia, the 20+ year old really nice cat that lived with us finally ran out of steam and was planted in the rock bed … she was a good cat.
Now for the flowers and insects and birds.
This has been a stunningly hot and humid week during which nobody wanted to be outside and away from the air conditioning – and it brought a slowing down to the flowering we have been recording for the last weeks. nevertheless, there has been plenty of good things to enjoy outside and here are some images to confirm the fact.
- Chipping Sparrow
- Chipping Sparrow with raised crest – unusual thing to see
- Yup – still two feet
- Oenothera – Evening Primrose
- Old seat brought from England finally succumbing to age and decay
- Peony
- Vervain
- Amelanchier canadensis berries – much loved by birds
- Feverfew
- The first Hemerocallis (Day lily) of the summer
- Elderberries
- First blush on a Sour Cherry – two days later it fell to a piratical Waxwing
- Astilbe
- Astilbe and fly
… and Hestia, the 20+ year old really nice cat that lived with us finally ran out of steam and was planted in the rock bed … she was a good cat.
