A Pretty Nice Little Town
Baie-D’Urfé is a pretty nice little town to spend time in. This evening the Citizens’ Association coordinated a switching on of the lights event focused on a gorgeous Winter Tree set up in the Fritz Park bandstand.
In the past week several of our neighbouring towns have had tree lighting events, but ours was better. Better by far, because the other towns lights seemed to be coordinated with local shopping opportunities and had a bit of a commercial flavour whereas our event was simply nice and friendly, no commercialization at all, just community families and kids (I’m an old sort of kid) having fun celebrating the start of the mid-winter festivals.
It was quite delightful … and then we took our chilled fingers home to find some whisky and feed the cat.
Jean, I recall your concerns and fears just prior to you embarking on the voyage to another World. It seems to have been a bloodless invasion, Jean. We are so happy for you both. The Gregson’s of Canada have given so much of themselves to the region’s in which they have lived, and we are delighted still to be in your circle of distant friendship.
As ever, Richard, your photographs of the Christmas gathering are superb. Our village church has a Christmas tree, with lights; it stands all of 5feet high! I expect that the church will be full over the Christmas period, but I doubt that we villagers will be having the enjoyment expressed by your friends and colleagues.
