“Phew, What a Scorcher”
Something has happened this week and the climate change process has gone into overdrive with air that’s supposed to be sitting on the Gulf of Mexico having migrated north to sit over Quebec – at the moment we have had three successive days with temperatures in the mid-30s and humidex values in the mid-40s. This will continue for at least another week they tell us – a run of excessive heat that Montreal has not seen for 45 years.
Thank goodness for air-conditioning because going outside – I just picked some early blackcurrants and am melting – is almost unbearable. In an attempt to at least “think” cool thoughts I resurfaced this photograph of a cool and clear (and trouty) chalk stream in Cambridgeshire that we happened upon a couple of years ago. It would be nice to be there this week.
